Data Colors
The Data Colors card overrides the colors resolved from the data.
Which entries appear depends on Apply colors to in the Radar card:
- Threads — one color picker per legend value
- Axes — one color picker per axis
| Property | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Default Color | Fallback color | #4682B4 |
| One picker per series or per axis | Overrides the color resolved from the data | Resolved color |
Each picker carries the fx button, so a color can be driven by a conditional formatting rule rather than a fixed value.
Resolution order
Colors are resolved in this order, the first match winning:
- Conditional formatting (fx) set on the picker below
- The Series Color field, read on the dimension selected by Apply colors to
- The Power BI host palette
- The built-in ten-color SDM palette
The Series Color field and these pickers always target the same dimension. Switching Apply colors to swaps the whole list — the pickers of the other dimension are not lost, they are simply not shown while that dimension is not the one being colored.
Series Color field
The field expects a hex code such as #FF0000, returned by a measure or a column. Feeding
colors from the model is the practical way to keep a series the same color across every
report page, and to drive colors from a lookup table rather than from the visual.
Because the field is read on one dimension only, switching Apply colors to re-reads the same field on the other dimension — there is no second field to fill in. The side that is not data-driven falls back to its single fixed color: Axis Color in the Axes card, or Thread Color in the Radar card.
